Course Characteristics
An undulating left handed Flat track with sharp turns but an extremely stiff climb throughout the final two furlongs in the short straight. The draw in the sprints is important with a low draw favourable unless the ground is testing when high numbers are preferred as the field generally comes wide into the straight and up the stands rail.

Travel Details:
By Car:
The course adjoins Junction 32 on the M62. Leeds is nine miles to the west and
the A1, M1 and M18 are all within ten miles of the course.
For Pontefract racecourse via the A1 (whether from the north or the south),
racegoers should follow the signs for Manchester and ’Xscape’, keeping in the
left-hand lane to join the M62, which then becomes the slip road for Pontefract
at Junction 32. The racecourse is not signed on the A1(M) or M62; however, there
is a racecourse sign on the roundabout on the exit from the M62 at junction 32.
By Train:
There are 3 train stations in Pontefract - Baghill, Monkhill and Tanshelf.
Doncaster, York and Leeds stations are also fairly close by.
