Course Charcteristics

An oval, flat track measuring one mile and five furlongs, there is a straight six-furlong course which joins the round course four and a half furlongs out. The mile and a half start is on a spur past the winning post. The galloping course suits the long striding individual, especially those who can stay. It is also worth noting that when rain gets into the ground the stands side often rides faster and it is not unknown for jockeys to track over in search of success. The fences on the chase course are particularly stiff and with several drops it can be the ideal venue for prospective Grand National horses. The open ditch and the water jump are omitted on the final circuit leaving a run-in of 440 yards. The hurdles course is situated inside the chase track and has sharp bends.

By Car:
Just off Junction 23 on the M6, with easy access from the A580 linking Manchester and Liverpool and on the motorway network from the M6, M56, M61 and the M58.

By Train:
The nearest station to Haydock Park Racecourse is Newton-le-Willows on the Manchester (Piccadilly) to Liverpool (Lime Street) line. On the main London/Glasgow line the nearest stations are Warrington and Wigan – both approximately 8 miles from the racecourse. For detailed rail information please call 08457 484 950.

By Bus:
Visitors can travel to the racecourse by bus using the following services; the 620 (Ashton to Haydock), the 320 (St. Helens to Wigan). For journey times ring 0870 608 2608.

The Haydock Park Xpress is a direct bus link from St. Helens Central and Newton-le-Willows Merseyrail stations to Haydock Park Racecourse. This service costs 50p for a single journey and operate from two hours before the first race to one hour after the last race on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.

Wednesday 10th March

Nothing doing today, my first tip went off at 401/,and the race was run in a manner that I knew immediately we had done our money, whilst I will be taking a few looks at the ride on Alqaahir tonight. I think there is something in the bag on this one. just a matter of time as to when its going to be let out again I think.

Tuesday 9th March

Ibberton unseated today losing a point but Madison Belle did what was required. Backed as high as 17 overnight on the machine she returned at 7/1 (8.4 BFSP) to increase the bank as we approach next week!!
